Responsive Design in Figma: Desktop, Tablet & Mobile

0 min read

Every day, hospitals battle an invisible enemy—bacteria and viruses. But at OCS CNWL, an outdated mopping system was making things worse. Traditional socket mops weren't just ineffective - they were spreading dirt instead of removing it.

The Challenge

Made of cotton, traditional mops pushed grime around rather than absorbing it. Double dipping these mops contributed to the spread of dirt and viruses. Worse, their plastic heads weren't recyclable, making them unsustainable.

For the staff, heavy and poorly designed mops caused mobility issues, leading to back and shoulder pain. Repeatedly refilling water buckets also increased risks and wasted time.

About OCS

Centenarian company, OCS has a long and storied history with roots as a simple, one-man window cleaning service in 1900 UK. Today, the business has grown to a world-wide operation with over 100,000 employees.

The company's facility services cover soft services, including cleaning and catering for more than 65 mental healthcare sites. In the wake of the pandemic and following the 2021 National Standards for Healthcare Cleanliness, OCS was determined to raise the bar by shifting to better-quality equipment.

"Hygiene and cleaning is critical not just for our operations but for healthcare as a whole. OCS needs to stay on top of standards as failing audits can ruin a business reputation with the client—and within the industry."
